Jack Ingram announces farewell tour, signals end of road after 35-year career

Jack Ingram appears to be stepping away from life on the road, announcing plans for a farewell tour and signaling the end of a 35-year run in Texas and Nashville country music.

In a social media post Tuesday, Ingram wrote, “Thanks for a great 35 years,” alongside a message to fans indicating his “days of hotels and highways will be riding off into the sunset at the end of this year.”

The veteran Texas singer-songwriter said he plans to mark the moment with a fall farewell tour, celebrating more than three decades of music and live performances.

Over a 35-year career spent largely on the road, Ingram has played thousands of shows across Texas and beyond, helping define the modern Texas country touring circuit.

“We’re going to have one hell of a Fall farewell tour and celebrate 35 years on the road,” Ingram wrote. “New music to share. Unreleased music to share. Good times to share for all that we’ve shared on this journey!”

While Ingram stopped short of using the word “retirement,” the message strongly suggests he is stepping away from touring, a defining element of his career that helped build a loyal Texas fanbase long before his mainstream success.

Ingram, known for balancing Texas country roots with Nashville chart success, has remained a respected figure in the Red Dirt and Texas music scene, influencing a generation of artists who followed.

Ingram extended his impact offstage as the face of The Texas Music Scene, introducing a wider audience to the artists and culture driving Texas country music

The announcement places him among a growing list of Texas country veterans reevaluating life on the road, as the physical demands of touring continue to shape career decisions for longtime performers.

As of 6:04 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, there are no dates beyond April 24 on his calendar. However, indications are that will change.
