The Lone Star Sounds
From large-scale festivals in San Antonio and Houston to community celebrations in Del Rio and El Paso, communities across Texas are marking Cinco de Mayo with music, food and cultural events.
One bad thing about Cinco de Mayo this year, it’s on a Tuesday. This really limits the size of the celebration because it’s in the middle of the week, but as we researched this project, we saw people are tackling this challenge many different ways. Some are saying we’ll celebrate Cinco de Mayo on Dos de Mayo and others are putting it at the end of the week and some are celebrating on Sunday through Tuesday. Hopefully, everyone is doing what’s best for them and their community!
We worked hard to build a strong list of Cinco de Mayo events across Texas that will be happening. We know there isn’t a stronger Lone Star Sound than Tejano music on May 5, or around May 5. While we worked hard on this list, we’re still willing to bet we’ve missed something or maybe, we made a mistake.
Why are we adding this list to a site that focuses on music? Quite simply, Cinco de Mayo events mean free music! Music is great, free music is even better!
Just for transparency, Calvin, our AI assistant used many angles to find information, and we used Google a lot. None of these great sources are infallible. If our technology made a mistake, humans can help us correct. If we missed your event, or made a mistake, email it to joelalangton@gmail.com.
Here’s a statewide look at where to celebrate.
